Seat on the Korner:

We select the star of the game and virtually invite him to a Seat on the Korner, just as Ralph Kiner used to do for his studio postgame show on WOR-channel 9 broadcasts in the early decades of the Mets.

Today's Seat on the Korner goes to Harrison Bader. Just a day after breaking a scoreless tie against the Royals in the eighth inning , he came through once again, this time breaking a 3-3 tie in the eighth inning with a two-RBI double. But he didn't stop there; he stole third base and scored on a hard-hit grounder to second with the infield in.

Turning Point

However, a wild pitch let McNeil reach first on Henry Davis's off-target throw. D.J. Stewart followed with a walk. The Mets then executed a double steal, setting the stage for Harrison Bader's heroics.

Three Keys

SAY IT AIN'T SO JOE

While Connor Joe's misplay didn't tie the game, his adventure on a fly ball let Francisco Lindor tag up at third and score, narrowing the gap to 3-2. This certainly energized both the crowd and the Mets. They would go on to erase the three-run deficit, scoring 6 unanswered runs in the 6-3 win.

WHO NEEDS J.D. WHEN WE HAVE D.J.

While the Mets still waiting on Free Agent acquisition J.D. Martinez to get healthy, D.J. Stewart has started to heat up. With two outs in the bottom of the 6th inning and the Mets trailing 3-2 with runners on first and second, the Pirates replaced Martin Perez with Hunter Stratton. Mets manager Carlos Mendoza then called on D.J. Stewart to pinch hit for DH Tyrone Taylor. Stewart promptly delivered with a double, driving in Brett Baty and tying the score at 3.

EIGHT IS GREAT FOR BADER

The last two days have showcased the value of a healthy Harrison Bader for the Mets, both offensively and defensively. Yesterday, he tied the game with an infield hit, and today he drove in the tie-breaking double, both coming in the eighth inning. His smart base running to add an insurance run highlighted his capabilities perfectly.
