Seat on the Korner:
We select the star of the game and virtually invite him to a Seat on the Korner, just as Ralph Kiner used to do for his studio postgame show on WOR-channel 9 broadcasts in the early decades of the Mets.

Judge's three RBI including a two run dinger to extend the Yankees lead to 5-0 was the engine that drove the Yankees to a 6-4 victory. The catch he made in the 5th inning was the air conditioning in the car that kept the game from being tied in the 6th, but that home run provided the margin of victory.
Need to Know
The Mets loss completed what was a 3-3 split in the 2025 version of the Subway Series.
76% of the runs scored in this series were scored via the home run.
Max Fried's career record against the Mets was raised to 10-5 after today's win, in which he went 5 innings and gave up 3 runs on six hits and a walk while striking out five.
Chris Devenski was the opener for the Mets and pitched two scoreless innings.
Zach Pop's Mets debut was less than stellar, giving up three runs in an inning and a third on five hits.
Ronny Mauricio had a two hit game off the bench.
Starling Marte had three hits from the leadoff spot, but his knee flared up in the 9th inning as he took a pitch, and is being reassessed. (If Marte needs to go on the IL, he could be replaced by Jesse Winker, who is due to come off the IL after a rehab stint.)
Rico Garcia threw two scoreless innings in his Mets debut while giving up just one hit and striking out two.
After John Bacon called two balls as strikes against Luis Torrens in the 9th, Carlos Mendoza was ejected for the second time in 8 days.
Turning Point
Francisco Lindor led off the 7th by getting hit with a pitch to bring Juan Soto to the plate as the tying run. Soto hit a seed to left field which was sinking fast.
How close was this to being a hit? Cody Bellinger looked behind him. He wasn't even sure he had it. But he absolutely had it and the double play stunted what would have been a very interesting rally to bring the Mets back. Instead, it was the dagger in the back of a four game win streak.
Three Keys
Don't Let 99 Beat You
Judge's prodigious blast in the 5th which made it 5-0 was unnecessary. With a runner on 3rd and one out, the Mets could have easily walked Judge and played for the double play with Giancarlo Stanton on deck. Instead ...
Yes, Stanton had hit a 118 mph double to left his previous time up. And walking Judge could have led to a three run HR instead of a two run HR. But at that point, what's the difference between 5-0 and 6-0? Stanton could just as easily hit into a 4-6-3 DP as hit a home run. But 99 is the guy you don't want beating you.
Agent 99 Wasn't Done
Starling Marte had three hits by the time the 6th inning came along. He almost had a 4th which would have tied the game. But Judge had decided he wasn't done plunging daggers in the Mets' backs.
Deep Fried
Max Fried cruised through four innings, but the Mets got to him in the 5th to cut into his five run lead. After getting the leadoff hitter, Fried gave up four straight singles to make the score 5-2. That set up first and second with one out and the big bats coming up in Soto and Alonso.
But after getting Soto swinging on a sweeper, he got Alonso to end the inning and end one of the Mets' best threats of the day.
