Continuing the tradition of Rheingold Beer sponsoring Kiner’s Korner, this season every seat is proudly presented by The Main Event Restaurant & Sports Bar.

It's been an injury-plagued season for Luis Robert Jr. So, when starts and finishes a game, it's a happy time for the team.

Robert Jr. has shown flashes of his four tools when he's at his best. Saturday's game, it was his power that was on display.

Robert Jr. challenged a pitch in the top of the 3rd that would have been strike three in the at-bat, and it would have ended the inning.

He won the challenge by a tenth of an inch. He hit a two-run bomb later in that at-bat.

Later in the game, in the top of the 7th, Robert Jr. hit a ball 417 feet and 109 mph to left field this time. The ball got out so quickly, and Robert Jr. looked so happy to hit that home run, almost to show his former team what they were missing.

Need to Know

  • Luis Torrens has now homered six times in his last nine games with a plate appearance.

  • The Mets are now 24-24 since Andy Green took over for Carlos Mendoza.

  • The Mets hit five home runs in the game, tying a season high for HRs in a game.

  • Luis Vargas walked four times and got on base five times in the game.

  • In Christian Scott's 29 career starts, he has yet to allow more than four runs in any of those games.

  • The Mets pitching staff struck out 13 batters on Saturday night.

  • Bo Bichette has homered in two straight games.

  • Colson Montgomery struck out four times in the game and now has 173 strikeouts on the season.

Turning Point

In the bottom of the 5th inning, Jonathan Pintaro came into a situation that could have catapulted the White Sox to victory. Christian Scott had just loaded the bases and walked in a run.

Pintaro faced Montgomery, who is a swing-happy power hitter with 27 home runs on the season. Montgomery then absolutely crushed a 1-0 pitch about 400 feet, but also about 3 feet foul down the right field line, just missing the pole.

Pintaro ended up striking out Montgomery, in the most pivotal moment of the game.

Three Keys

Benge Stays Hot

Carson Benge continues to impress everyone with plays at the plate and in the field.

Benge was 3-5 in the game, with 2 runs scored, three RBIs and a stolen base.

He's a long shot for the Rookie of the Year award, but with more than a month left in the season, you never know if he stays hot.

Mets Bullpen

It wasn't the prettiest game for the Mets, who gave up five runs, walked a lot of batters, and allowed a lot of base runners. However, the bullpen bent, but didn't break in this game, which had the potential to be another one of those games that went off the rails.

The Mets' bullpen pitched 4.1 innings with seven strikeouts; some of those K's were at very clutch moments.

Pintaro's 5th inning strikeout and Austin Warren's clutch strikeouts in the 7th inning stand out as plays of the game.

Kodai Senga then struck out two batters in the bottom of the 9th inning to seal the deal for the Mets.

The Long Ball

The ball flew out of the park seven times on Saturday night.

Robert Jr. hit two home runs, Benge hit a homer, and Bichette and Torrens also had a home run apiece.

For the White Sox, Braden Montgomery and Tristan Peters each homered as well.
