Seat on the Korner:
We select the star of the game and virtually invite him to a Seat on the Korner, just as Ralph Kiner used to do for his studio postgame show on WOR-channel 9 broadcasts in the early decades of the Mets.

For the fourth time in his last six games, Mets starting pitcher Sean Manaea completed 7 innings, this time with no runs, 5 K's, 2 walks, and just 2 hits. Manaea took a no-hitter into the bottom of the 5th, and lost it on a two-out single by Miguel Vargas. In 9 starts since the All-Star break, the southpaw has gone 5-2 with a 3.15 ERA, 58 K's in 54.1 innings, and a 0.94 WHIP.
Need to Know
With the September call-ups, the Mets added relieer Alex Young and infielder Pablo Reyes prior to the game.
The Mets are now 9 games over .500 for the first time all season.
The loss was the 107th for the Chicago White Sox, a new franchise record.
New York ended their 10-game road trip with a 7-3 record.
Francisco Lindor's 4th-ining home run extended his current hitting streak to 12 games, and his current on-base streak to a personal best 30 games.
In the bottom of the 7th, catcher Luis Torrens caught Luis Robert stealing second. It was the 12th time Torrens has caught a baserunner this season out of 20 attempts (an incredible 60%) since joining the Mets.
White Sox starter Garrett Crochet struck out the Mets first 7 batters, and did not give up a hit until Lindor's home run to lead off the 4th inning.
Each of the Mets ten batters today had at least one strikeout, with Lindor's 3 K's leading the charge.
Turning Point
After the Mets went down 1-2-3 in each of the first three innings, Francisco Lindor led off the 4th inning with a 396-foot solo home run to left on the very first pitch. The Mets held off the White Sox offense and the score remained 1-0 until they added an insurance run in the top of the 9th.
Three Keys
Manae-ace
While the Mets were obviously hoping for big things when they signed Sean Manaea this past offseason, they were never expecting him to ascend to the ace of the staff. That's just what he's been, however. Today, he mowed through the White Sox lineup, not allowing a baserunner until 2-out walk. to Lenyn Sosa in the bottom of the 4th (and he was subsequently picked off), and then not allowing his first hit until a 2-out single by Miguel Vargas an inning later. With a low pitch count through the first 6 innings, it seemed reasonable to expect the lefty to go at least 8 innings. However, Manaea started to tire in the 7th inning. He hit Luis Robert Jr. with a pitch leading off the inning, and even though he was erased on a caught-stealing, a two-out walk. toAndrew Vaughn followed by a Gavin Sheets single made things dicey. Manager Carlos Mendoza gave him one more batter though, and Manaea rewarded the skipper's faith by getting Miguel Vargas to fly out to left to end the inning.
In Good Hands
The Mets were clinging to a 1-0 lead since the beginning of the 4th inning on a day when both team's offenses looked anemic. However, a two-out rally that started with a J.D. Martinez walk (Pablo Reyes then pinch-ran for him) and ended with a Starling Marte RBI double provided a vital insurance run.
Pour Some Sugar
Mets closer Edwin Diaz pitched a bunch on the Mets road trip and suffered a couple devastating losses in the process. However, he closed out. the series against the Arizona Diamondbacks with a solid outing for a save, and put the finishing touches on the South Side sweep by striking out the side.
