We select the star of the game and virtually invite him to a Seat on the Korner, just as Ralph Kiner used to do for his studio postgame show on WOR-channel 9 broadcasts in the early decades of the Mets.

Francisco Alvarez's 3 run home run in the first put the Mets up 4-0 before the Nats came to bat giving Jose Quintana an early lead which he would never relinquish.

The Mets used the long ball hitting 5 home runs on the night off of three different Nationals pitchers. Brandon Nimmo had 2 on the night for a career-best 22 home runs this season...He joined Curtis Granderson (2015), Tommie Agee (1969, 1970) and Michael Conforto (2017) as the only Mets to have 20 or more HR in the leadoff spot...Nimmo Is the first Mets outfielder with 20 or more homers since 2019.
Ronny Runs
Interesting that the knock on both Alvarez and Mauricio was their defense, Francisco has been fine all season long, Ronny in the small sample size has been above average showing off his arm a few times already, in the ninth inning he showed tremendous range to snare a foul ball.
