Seat On The Korner: TYRONE TAYLOR

We select the star of the game and virtually invite him to a Seat on the Korner, just as Ralph Kiner used to do for his studio postgame show on WOR-channel 9 broadcasts in the early decades of the Mets.

In tonight's Mets victory, numerous players deserved recognition, but the spotlight was firmly on Tyrone Taylor. When a player achieves a remarkable performance like going 4-for-5 at the plate, they inevitably earn the spotlight. Taylor's stellar night marked the second time in his career he accomplished a 4 hit night, a feat that included three singles and one double. This outstanding performance not only highlighted his exceptional batting skills but also played a crucial role in the team's triumph, solidifying his seat on the Korner.

Turning Point

After taking an early lead in the first inning with a score of 2-0, David Peterson gave back the lead to the Marlins in the top of the third inning. However, aided by some dreadful defense from the Marlins, the Mets stormed back in the bottom of the third with a three-run rally. It all began when Tyrone Taylor singled on a sharp line drive to left fielder Bryan De La Cruz. Mark Vientos then reached on a fielding error by third baseman Emmanuel Rivera, advancing Taylor to second. Francisco Alvarez followed with an RBI single, driving in Taylor and moving Vientos to second. A wild pitch by Marlins' pitcher Braxton Garrett advanced Vientos to third and Alvarez to second. Jeff McNeil then reached on another error, this time by second baseman Otto Lopez, allowing Vientos to score and putting Alvarez on third. Francisco Lindor hit a fielder's choice, but Alvarez was out at home, and McNeil advanced to second. Harrison Bader popped out to second baseman Otto Lopez. Finally, J.D. Martinez delivered a sharp line drive single to center fielder Jazz Chisholm Jr., scoring McNeil and bringing Lindor to third. The inning ended with Pete Alonso grounding out to shortstop Tim Anderson, but the damage was done. The Mets had regained the lead, making it 5-2.

Three Keys

A Much Bader Start

Carlos Mendoza made a strategic change to his starting lineup by moving Harrison Bader to the number two spot, and the decision paid off immediately. In the bottom of the first inning, after Francisco Lindor led off with a double over Jazz Chisolm JR's head, Bader capitalized on the opportunity by hitting a two-run homer, his fourth of the year, driving Lindor home and giving the team an early lead.
