June started out with such promise for the New York Mets and quickly became a month to forget. A 9-2 start gave way to a 3-13 finish, shaving 10 games off the Mets' high-water mark of 21 games above .500 and seeing them fall behind the Philadelphia Phillies in the National League East. Those looking for a bright side can point to the 2015 Mets, who also lost seven in a row during June and finished the month 12-15 on their way to the National League pennant.
June 2025 will also go down as a memorable month for the Mets since it marked Juan Soto's most dominant performance since coming to Queens over the winter. There was no one as singlehandedly important to the Mets avoiding a complete disaster in June as Soto, who ran away with Met of the Month honors for June with ease.

In 90 at bats for the month, Soto hit .322 with 11 home runs, 20 RBI and 25 runs scored while walking 25 times. The slash line for Soto was extremely impressive as he posted an 1.196 OPS, showcasing how dominant he can be when he is on his game. Soto also became the first Met to record 25 hits and 25 runs scored in a month since David Wright in August of 2007.
While there are still concerns about the team as a whole, especially with the amount of injuries that have piled up in the last six weeks, Soto's slow start is no longer one of them. The Mets can feel good that Soto will continue his Hall of Fame trajectory for the next 15 years in Flushing, with this June performance being a sign of things to come.
