Seat On The Korner: Sean Manaea
We select the star of the game and virtually invite him to a Seat on the Korner, just as Ralph Kiner used to do for his studio postgame show on WOR-channel 9 broadcasts in the early decades of the Mets.
Tonight's Seat on the Korner goes to starting pitcher Sean Manaea, who delivered his best start of the season. Manaea dazzled on the mound, going a full seven innings and allowing just two hits, one of which was an infield variety. The Twins could only muster two balls out of the infield, a single and a flyball to Harrison Bader. Manaea was dominant, striking out a season-high 11 batters while walking just one. His stellar performance lowered his ERA to 3.50, and he now boasts a 7-4 record on the season.

After starting the season without shutting out the opposition in the first 91 games, the Mets pitching staff has now recorded their third shutout in the last 16 games.
Turning Point
When your pitchers shut out the opposition, the turning point of the game is often the first run scored. For the Mets, this pivotal moment came in the bottom of the 4th inning. After Francisco Lindor struck out to start the inning, David Festa walked Brandon Nimmo on four pitches. Festa then balked Nimmo to second base, and a wild pitch moved him over to third. J.D. Martinez seized the opportunity, delivering an RBI single to drive home Nimmo, putting the Mets on the board and setting the tone for their victory.
Three Keys
V Marks the Spot
Mark Vientos hit his 15th home run of the season, compare that with last season when Mets third baseman hit a total of 14 home runs, 62 runs, 18 doubles, two triples, 54 RBI while slashing .212/266/.324...In 62 games this season, Mark Vientos is batting .285 (63-221) with 33 runs, 14 doubles, 15 home runs, 40 RBI with 19 walks. Cue the Trumpets
Despite all the Mets' recent trades to bolster the bullpen, their success will largely depend on closer Edwin Diaz. Tonight, Diaz demonstrated why he's crucial to the team's fortunes. After newly acquired Ryne Stanek allowed the tying runs to reach base via a Pete Alonso error and a walk in the top of the eighth, Manager Carlos Mendoza called upon Diaz for a four-out save. Diaz responded by striking out Byron Buxton to extinguish the threat, marking Buxton's fourth strikeout of the game. Diaz then retired the side in order for his 13th save of the year. Diaz's composure and dominance under pressure showcased his vital role in the Mets' bullpen and their aspirations for the season.
